Los Angeles Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh laid out the plan for quarterback play for the team’s first preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks this Sunday. It would have been unlikely that Justin Herbert would have played in the game at all, but his foot injury has made it abundantly clear.

This Sunday’s match will feature the remaining four quarterbacks on the roster. Easton Stick , Max Duggan , Casey Bauman, and Luis Perez, who was added to the roster shortly after the Herbert injury news came down the pike.

“Easton is starting the game, I think somewhere around a quarter and a half,” Harbaugh said. “20 to 30 plays is what’s in my mind.

“Then Max will come in, and we’ll be able to get Casey and Luis in there as well,” Harbaugh added. “That’s the plan.”

Chargers fans are more than familiar with Stick, who has been on the team since he was drafted out of North Dakota State in 2019. Stick filled in for Herbert last season for the final five games of the season. Stick has now survived three coaching changes since joining the Chargers.

Former TCU QB Max Duggan was drafted last year. He played a few series in the preseason last year and will likely see a bit more action this year.

The new faces that will handle the second half, Bauman and Perez were both added this offseason. Bauman as an undrafted free agent out of Montana State and Perez, added this summer, as noted above.

Perez enjoyed a standout 2024 season as the starting quarterback for the Arlington Renegades. He led the UFL in passing yards, touchdowns, and completions . Prior to his UFL success, Perez had a nomadic career, playing in the XFL for multiple teams, including a championship-winning stint with the Renegades in 2023. His professional journey also includes brief stints with NFL franchises such as the Rams, Lions, and Eagles.
