Los Angeles Rams Rookie Praises Receiving Room, “I Ain’t Ever Been In No Receiver Room Like This”

The Los Angeles Rams have one of the best receiving duos in the NFL in Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua . Aside from their talent, work ethic, and production, they have long been known, Kupp especially, as coaches on the field.

During the Sean McVay era, the Rams have put importance on their receiving corps having certain intangibles, one of those being high football acumen and the ability to be an extension of McVay.

Rookie WR Jordan Whittington has been with the team just a short while, but he is already taking notice to the intelligence and attention to detail that this receiver room has.

When you are a 3rd round pick as Kupp was, or a 5th round pick as Nacua was, or a 4th round pick as Demarcus Robinson was, it is the attention to detail and preparation that can separate you. It is also the “we first” attitude that puts the room, and team, above the individual.

Long has the wide receiver been viewed as the primadonna, the player on the team that was allowed to display some antics and selfishness as long as they were producing. Under McVay, the Rams receivers have never been like that. Everybody eats.

    Whittington has noticed.

“I ain’t ever been in no receiving room like this. Everybody close. Everybody truly cares.”

I think it’s safe to say that Kupp will probably go into coaching as soon as he decides to retire from playing, and it’s easy to see that he was instrumental in Nacua’s breakout rookie season. This will be key in the development of Whittington.

He looked great in his first preseason action finishing with 6 catches for 74 yards. Will he be the next late-round draft pick to hit for the Los Angeles Rams?

With the support of Kupp and the rest of the receiving room, he is certainly on his way.
