Los Angeles Rams Rookie Offensive Linemen Standouts In Preseason Action

The Los Angeles Rams have started to take their offensive line very seriously. Not only did they sign guards Kevin Dotson and Jonah Jackson to major contracts, but they also used their 2023 first-overall pick on center Steve Avila .

Those were the big splashes the Rams have made recently along the offensive front. They also made a few moves that until now have flown under the radar. The team drafted center/right guard Beaux Limmer in the sixth round out of Arkansas and picked up guard/center Justin Dedich as an undrafted free agent.

Since the Rams don’t play starters or even rotational backups, these two have seen a great deal of work, Limmer at center playing about 70 percent of offensive snaps and Dedich at left guard with about half that.

And they have looked great.

Neither Limmer nor Dedich have allowed a single pressure per PFF . They are among 19 snap-qualified rookies to not allow pressure through the first two preseason games. Limmer is the only rookie to play 90 or more snaps to have not allowed a single pressure.

Dedich has posted a modest 69.3 run-blocking grade, 24th among rookies. Limmer has the fifth-best run-blocking grade among rookies, 77.9. The fifth overall pick, Joe Alt is ranked 6th.

Rams offensive line coach, Ryan Wendell deserves some of the credit for the development of the group. Dotson had the best year of his career under Wendell and Avila was one of the best rookie o-linemen in the league last year.
