Los Angeles Rams Lose Key Defender to Hamstring Injury

The Los Angeles Rams face another setback as they prepare for their 2024 kickoff against the Detroit Lions on Sunday Night Football.

It is already confirmed that they will be without starting tight end Tyler Higbee for at least the year’s first four games. The Rams will also start the season without starting left tackle, Alaric Jackson and backup quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo due to two-game suspensions for each. There is also a chance that starting right tackle Rob Havenstein may miss Week 1 due to an ankle injury.

Los Angeles Rams Lose CB Darious Williams For At Least 4 Games

The secondary, in particular, has been hit with several injuries. Early on in training camp Derion Kendrick tore his ACL and will miss the season. They released Jerry Jacobs because of a groin injury. And Cobie Durant popped up on the injury report this week with a hamstring injury.

Starting cornerback, Darious Williams, who also was listed on the injury report with a hamstring was officially moved to the reserve/injured list. IR rules dictate players added to the list must miss four games.

Williams had missed much of training camp tending to the injury and was listed as a limited participant during Wednesday’s practice. The earliest Williams could return to action would be the October 6th game against the Green Bay Packers, which is followed by the Rams BYE Week.

The 31-year-old spent the first four seasons of his career with the Rams and the last two with the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Rams signed him this spring and since then most have penciled him in as the starting cornerback across from fellow free-agent addition, Tre’Davious White.

As it stands at the time of writing the Rams have White, Durant, Quentin Lake, Russ Yeast, and 2024 undrafted free agents Charles Woods and Josh Wallace on their active roster.

On the practice squad, the Rams have 2024 UDFA Cam Lampkin and Shaun Jolly at cornerback.
