A momentous night is about to take place at Dodger Stadium as the Los Angeles Dodgers take on the San Diego Padres in Game 5 of the NLDS.

The Dodgers were able to stave off elimination in San Diego in dominating fashion, blanking the Padres 8-0. They will now look to win the series on Friday night and play host to the New York Mets in the NLCS.

Dave Roberts has announced the lineup for the game, and the Los Angeles Dodgers do get a bit of good news: Freddie Freeman is back in the lineup after missing Game 4 with an ankle injury, at least for now. His ankle is nowhere near 100% so it will be interesting to see how effective he can be both offensively and defensively.

Robert’s had this to say about Freeman being in the lineup.

“Right now he’s in there. I feel good about him in there,” Roberts said. “If he doesn’t go, then we’ll adjust.”

Los Angeles Dodgers Lineup For Game 5 NLDS

    Position Player
    DH Shohei Ohtani
    RF Mookie Betts
    1B Freddie Freeman
    LF Teoscar Hernandez
    3B Max Muncy
    C Will Smith
    CF Kike Hernandez
    2B Gavin Lux
    SS Tommy Edman
    SP Yoshinobu Yamamoto

Kike Hernandez moves up one spot in tonight’s lineup after batting 8th on Wednesday, and with Freeman back in the lineup, Chris Taylor is out and can be used in pinch situations.

Manager Dave Roberts also announced that Yoshinobu Yamamoto would get the start on the hill tonight. After a successful shoutout bullpen game on Wednesday, there was speculation that Robers would go with this strategy again, but he is putting his faith in Yamamoto.

Roberts told reporters , “At the end of the day, we’re making a bet on a guy to pitch the game of his life tonight.”

If Yamamoto is able to accomplish that, and if the Dodgers bats can stay red-hot, the City of Angels should be celebrating late into the evening.

The Padres lineup will be as follows:

    Position Player
    1B Luis Arraez
    RF Fernando Tatis Jr.
    LF Jurickson Profar
    3B Manny Machado
    SS Xander Bogaerts
    DH David Peralta
    2B Jake Cronenworth
    C Kyle Higashioka
    SP Yu Darvish
