Troubling Los Angeles Rams News with Final Cooper Kupp Injury Update for Week 7

The Los Angeles Rams injury report leading up to their Week 7 matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders has provided few details on the potential availability of wide receiver Cooper Kupp. Hours before today’s game kicks off, the final NFL injury news on Kupp’s status is finally in.
Kupp, who has recently started popping up in NFL trade rumors, hasn’t played since Sept. 15 against the Arizona Cardinals. He suffered an ankle injury just one week after the Rams lost Puka Nacua to a multi-week injury, which landed him on injured reserve.
The Rams news leading into Sunday’s game seemed to be headed in a positive direction. Sean McVay told reporters on Wednesday that Kupp was “ trending in the right direction ” to play against Las Vegas. There were even more positive signs later in the week, with the All-Pro wideout working in a limited practice session on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
Then, just hours after Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported that teams are inquiring into a Kupp trade and a deal was at least possible, Kupp’s ‘questionable’ status for Sunday’s game took a turn.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported early on Sunday morning that Kupp is unlikely to play today against the Raiders. While the Rams medical staff will hold off on making a decision until they see how he looks in pre-game warmups, the team’s expectation is that Kupp will miss another game.

The NFL news on Sunday doesn’t mean Kupp is being held out by Los Angeles because of ongoing trade talks. Although, it’s certainly possible the league-wide interest in Kupp is providing even more incentive for the Rams to be very cautious with the veteran wide receiver.
With Kupp likely inactive for Week 7, the next big question becomes his status for Week 8. The Rams have a short week, playing the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday Night Football, with the small benefit of it being played at home in Los Angeles. For now, Kupp should be considered questionable to play next week.
Considering the short turnaround and the frequent NFL trade rumors surrounding him, it’s at least possible Kupp has played his last game in a Rams uniform with the NFL trade deadline on Nov. 5.
