On Thursday, the LaGrange-Troup County Chamber of Commerce forum will host a political forum for residents to make their decisions on the candidates for the June 18 runoff.

The LaGrange Daily News is again partnering with the Chamber for the political forum which will be held Thursday, June 6 at 5:30 p.m.

Seating is limited at the chamber but the forum will be live-streamed on the LaGrange Daily News Facebook page.

Georgia Law requires runoff elections if the leading candidate does not receive more than 50 percent of the vote. Runoffs are required for three races from the May 21 election including the District 2 and 3 Board of Commissioners Republican primaries as well as the District 3 Congressional primary.

Incumbent Ellis Cadenhead will face off against James Thrailkill for the District 2 commissioner’s seat. The winner will face Democratic Party candidate Andrew Moody in November.

Incumbent Lewis Davis will face off against Rex Scott for the District 3 commissioner’s seat. No Democratic Party Candidates qualified to seek the seat.

Brian Jack and state Sen. Mike Dugan are also headed toward a runoff for Georgia’s open congressional seat after the retirement of Drew Ferguson. The winner will face Maura Keller, who defeated Val Almonord for the Democratic nomination.
