Circle of Care hosts Diapers and Wipes Drive

Circle of Care will be hosting a free diaper and wipe giveaway from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on July 16. It will take place at the Coleman Center located at 701 Lincoln St.

The event is in partnership with Amerigroup RealSolutions, and it will include other organizations like, Bethany Christian Services, the Department of Public Health, and The Basics. A representative from Amerigroup will be there to talk about their services.

The Circle of Care is a Twin Cedars Youth and Family Services, Inc. program. The program provides services to soon-to-be and current parents in their teens and up to age 23. They also work with their children from prenatal to age 3.  Some of the services include child development screenings, parent-child activities, and community connections.

They also provide home services to parents participating in the program. For pregnant teens and young parents interested in participating they can contact Dedria Shepherd at dshepherd@twincedars.org.

Participation is completely voluntary for the parents working with Circle of Care. The program does provide access to resources like clothes, diapers, books, and other items for its participants. However, the diaper and wipes drive will be open to anyone, including parents over the age of 23.

The program was started in 1997 to address the high rate of teen pregnancy in the area. According to Shepherd, that rate has decreased significantly. For those wanting to support Circle of Care donations can be made on the Twin Cedars website.
