Feds, state AGs claim tech firm enabled landlords to artificially raise rents
The U.S. Department of Justice and eight state attorneys general, including California AG Rob Bonta, sued a technology company Friday for allegedly creating software that enables landlords to artificially raise rents — especially in Southern California. Landlords use RealPage Inc.’s revenue management software to price multifamily rental units.

Yoga class credit card thieves strike multiple studios in Central Ohio
COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — Multiple yoga studios in Central Ohio have fallen victim to a pair of credit card thieves. The Grandview Heights Police say two individuals signed up for yoga classes using a fake identity. While at the studios, they worked together to steal credit cards from victims while attending classes.

A day of fun in the sun, participants were swinging for MemorialCare Saddleback Medical Center Foundation’s Golf Classic on July 15 at Coto de Caza Golf & Racquet Club. From hospital supporters to physicians and representatives from sponsors, including Presenting Sponsor Farmers & Merchants Bank and Farmers and Merchants Trust Company, attendees raised $111,000 to benefit MemorialCare Saddleback Medical Center. This year, the hospital proudly celebrates their 50th anniversary.

Mob ransacks 7-Eleven store after possible street takeover in San Pedro
A 7-Eleven store in San Pedro was ransacked by a massive crowd after a possible street takeover overnight.The incident happened around 2 a.m. Saturday near the intersection of Gaffey and 1st streets, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.Officers responded to the area after receiving a call of a disturbance. Police could not confirm if that disturbance was a takeover but it was described as large groups of people around their cars.That group eventually gathered inside the nearby 7-Eleven stores and began taking items. Video from inside the ransacked store shows broken displays knocked over on the floor and merchandise and debris scattered everywhere.Authorities say the mob of about 30-50 people got away with about $40,000 in goods, including $1,000 worth of cigarettes and $20,000 worth of lottery tickets.The crowd broke up and dispersed before officers arrived. No arrests have been made.

LONG BEACH, Calif.—Makayla Demelo's goal in the 73rd minute sent Long Beach State to a 1-1 tie against No. 4 BYU Saturday night at George Allen Field. The Beach threatened in the 11th minute when Liz Worden capped off an offensive rush with a shot that went off the post. The BYU defense kicked the ball out of the end line, resulting in a corner kick for LBSU. Worden sent the ball into the box, where a scramble ensued.
