WACO, Texas (FOX 44) – The Waco Independent Film Festival is here!. The Festival, formerly known as the Deep in the Heart Film Fesitval for the past seven years, will combine in-theater screenings from July 18-21, followed by an online encore from July 21-27. The highly anticipated film event will lead off with an Opening Night presentation of Ben Judkins’ The Cigarette Surfboard. Troy Paff’s Texas Music Revolution will be the Closing Night selection, concluding a day of special presentations including Linda Broocks’ human trafficking documentary Unleashed, and a block of horror film shorts.

Waco shelter dogs in need of summer items to help beat the heat
WACO, Texas — The Waco Animal Shelter is calling on local residents to donate summer items to keep shelter dogs cool as temperatures stay in the triple digits. The shelter is asking for an array of items including kiddie pools for the dogs to cool off in, shelf-stable wet food to make "pupsicles", frisbees and Benebone-type chew toys.
Baylor University Improves Game Day at McLane Stadium with Seven Daktronics LED Displays
When Baylor Football fans head to McLane Stadium this fall, they will be greeted by seven new LED displays from Daktronics (NASDAQ-DAKT) of Brookings, South Dakota, including a higher-resolution main video display as well as a backside display to appeal to fans outside the stadium. These two end zone displays combine for more than 8,000 square feet of digital space. The installation includes an auxiliary video display, two ribbon displays and two field level displays.

Most of DART member cities want to reduce their funding
More than half of Dallas Area Rapid Transit’s 13 members cities want to cut funding to the transit agency. Farmers Branch and Carrollton are the most recent cities to vote in favor of reducing funds to DART by 25%. At its meeting Tuesday, the Farmers Branch City Council voted unanimously on a resolution to reduce their funding for DART; Carrollton City council members also voted 6 to 1 on Tuesday to suggest cutting funds.
