“We are expecting increased chances of showers and thunderstorms later (Monday) morning for Southeast Texas, and this afternoon and evening for Central and Southern Louisiana.”

That was the message at 5 a.m. Monday from the National Weather Service in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
There is an Enhanced Risk (Level 3 of 5) for severe thunderstorms over Central Louisiana, with a Slight Risk (Level 2 of 5) for the remainder of the area.

The highest severe weather threat probability will be for tornadoes and damaging winds, although large hail cannot be ruled out.

There is a Marginal Risk (Level 1 of 4) of Excessive Rainfall over most of the area.

Expect rainfall of 1/2 to 1 inch with locally higher amounts.
In addition, there is a Wind Advisory for all inland areas through 7 p.m. for southerly winds of 25 mph with gusts to 40 mph likely.

Across the marine zones, a Small Craft Advisory continues for all zones for southerly winds 20 to 25 knots with gusts to 35 knots.

Low pressure moving across the region will bring numerous showers and thunderstorms Monday.
