The first of two open houses about the Enterprise Boulevard Extension Project will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, at the Martin Luther King Junior Center, 2009 Simmons St.

The Enterprise Blvd. Extension Project is included in LC Rebound, a tax-neutral bond proportion that was passed by Lake Charles voters in November 2023. The open houses are being hosted for the public to learn more about the project.

In presentations that Mayor Nic Hunter gave before the November election, he said the cost of the project will be about $26 million. The goals of the project are to create a better connection to downtown, bolster economic development, improve drainage and enhance landscaping.

The extension will include mostly three-lane roads and is designed to connect Enterprise Boulevard to Fitzenreiter Road onto U.S. 171.

A second open house will be held at the same time and place on Thursday, July 18.
