Landfill Has Completed Repairs, Cortez News
The Montezuma County Landfill has completed the repairs on the recycling baler allowing the City of Cortez to resume its program beginning Thursday, August 22. To allow for time with the backlog of residential and commercial recycling, there will only be pick-up recycling (residential and commercial) with the drop-off location tentatively re-opening on September 16.
Senior living facility without clean water for weeks
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — A senior living facility in Englewood has been without clean water for nearly two weeks, forcing residents to go without showers for days. On Aug. 8, Brookdale Meridian Englewood Senior Living informed residents via email that the Englewood Water District had detected excess levels of nitrate in the facility's water. The water was deemed unsafe for consumption or bathing, with tests revealing nitrate levels over 50 parts per million (ppm), five times the maximum contaminant level set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

Shopping Center Developer Buys Lucky’s Market’s Building In Fort Collins
Lucky’s Market’s building at 425 S. College Ave. in Fort Collins has been sold to an “undisclosed investor,” for $7.3 million. According to the Coloradoan, the undisclosed investor was later identified as California-based retail shopping center developer NewMark Merrill Companies, which confirmed its acquisition of the single-tenant building in an Aug. 19 news release. No firm indication from Lucky’s Market on the status of its lease moving forward, but according to the real estate firm that brokered the deal, the 25,000-square-foot building is fully leased to Lucky’s Market “in excess of 10 years.”

Area wildfires cause evacuations, interstate and road closures
GILLETTE, Wyo. — Multiple evacuation notices have been sent and multiple roadways have been closed due to burning wildfires in and around Campbell County. Campbell County Emergency Management says the Bureau of Land Management and Campbell County Fire have ordered the immediate evacuation and closure of the Weston Hills Recreation Area in northern Campbell County. This is due to the rapid movement of the Constitution fire, identified near Collins Road, north of the Eagle Butte Mine, in the fire department’s press release.
