LAKE CITY, S.C. (WBTW) — An unusual rescue in Florence County needs to be seen to be believed.

On Monday, Howe Springs Fire Rescue crews assisted officials from the South Lynches Fire Department in Lake City to secure a person who was secured to a lift that malfunctioned.

“We are very proud this rescue had a good outcome,” Howe Springs wrote on its Facebook page. “A team of firefighters made up of both departments were beginning their ascent to carry out a rope rescue in case the ladder was unable to maneuver through the maze of steel under the water tower.”

Howe Springs Fire Rescue Lt. Isiah Cooper helped the victim over the ladder’s tip to get him back onto the ground.
