Foothill College hosts a field study program at the Kelsey Creek Schoolhouse
Breaking ground just after the holiday on Friday July 5, the Foothill College Archaeology Field School Program began their summer project excavating and investigating the Kelsey Creek Schoolhouse on Finely East Road. Finding several artifacts on site, the group will take this data back to their class for final reports while also finding ways to remain involved in and give back to the community that has given so much to them.
ATV Accident in Lake County Kills One and Injures Four Kids
An ATV rollover incident has killed a Michigan Teen and injured four children. Last Thursday night, the 18-year-old man was driving the ATV with four kids in tow on a private property on Schwartz Lane in Lower Lake. It was then the vehicle flipped onto its left side with the front right passenger on the ATV ejected hitting a cattle fence. The 18-year-old driver died at the site. Two passengers were taken to a local hospital for minor injuries while the other two were airlifted to a Sacramento hospital for major injuries. CHP says no one was wearing helmets or seat belts.

Civil Grand Jury report details $200,000 in undocumented expenses by former county housing contractor
LAKEPORT>>> The Lake County Civil Grand Jury in their most recent report (dated June 30, 2024) in an examination of the County of Lake’s former contractor Oroville based Elijah House, concluded that “the Oversight obligations set forth in the contract between Lake County and Elijah House, and required by statute, were not met by the Lake County Behavioral Health or Continuum of Care, and resulted in approximately $200,000 in undocumented expenses.”
