Deere Purchases 234-Acre Plot in Indiana to Develop New Warehouse
LOWELL, Ind. – Coldwell Banker Commercial Realty announced the $7 million sale of a 234-acre undeveloped parcel in northwest Lowell, Ind., that will be the future site of a 1.2-million-square-foot John Deere warehouse/distribution facility. Located at 2105 W. 181st Ave. in Lowell, near the Illinois/Indiana border, it will be one of the largest buildings in Lake County, Indiana.

There were many consequences in store for the driver who was clocked at over twice the speed limit on a public Indiana road. I remember my first speeding ticket very vividly. I was 18 years old and driving on US-150 from Daviess County, Indiana, to Knox County, Indiana, in a beat-up Chevy Cavalier. Thinking the officer was on his way to an emergency, I slowed down and moved onto the shoulder so he could pass me. However, he stayed behind me, and eventually I came to a stop.

As state officials seek to resume executions in Indiana, Lake County’s one death row inmate is still within his appeal process, officials said. Gov. Eric Holcomb and Attorney General Todd Rokita announced on June 26 that they are seeking to reinstate executions in Indiana prisons, starting with the execution of Joseph Corcoran of Fort Wayne, according to a state news release.
Lake County Man Dies After Shooting Incident on July 4th
East Chicago, IN – A 35-year-old Gary man was fatally shot in East Chicago on July 4, 2024. Officers responded to a call at 3600 Superior Court at approximately 10:30 p.m., finding the victim, Jerome Scott, near the entrance with a gunshot wound to the stomach. Medics transported Scott to the University of Chicago Hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries at around 1:25 a.m. on July 5, 2024.
Lake County, IN – Illinois Man with Texas Warrants Arrested in Cedar Lake
Cedar Lake, IN – A Crete, Illinois, man wanted on multiple warrants from Texas was arrested in Cedar Lake on Friday. According to Cedar Lake Police, Officer Alexis Dills observed a white 2001 Ford utility truck with an expired Illinois plate pulling a homemade trailer full of scrap metal. Officer Dills stopped the vehicle and identified the driver as Steven Rodarte, 26. Rodarte attempted to flee but was apprehended with the help of a citizen.
