Ronan man admits to felony assault
A Ronan admitted to threatening the mother of his children with a knife. Darius Sosep Parker, 25, entered a plea of guilty in District Court in Polson June 26 to felony assault with a weapon.According to court records, on April 19, 2023, a deputy with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office was in the Ronan area when he was flagged down by a woman. She told the deputy that Parker confronted her and was arguing with her before he pulled out a knife and said he was “f***ing serious.”He then put the knife away and struck her on her forehead above her eye. She told the deputy that they were in a three-year relationship, share two children, but are no longer a couple.Judge Molly Owen set a sentencing date of Aug. 14. Parker remains in the Lake County Jail with bond totaling $160,000.
Washington man accused of dealing drugs
A man from Green Acres, Wash., man is accused of dealing drugs in Lake County. Three county residents appointed to statewide boards
Governor Greg Gianforte recently appointed three Lake County residents to statewide boards.Tribal Councilwoman Jennifer Finley of Polson was appointed to the State-Tribal Economic Development Commission, a board tasked with assisting, promoting, developing, and providing initiative recommendations for accelerating economic development on reservations in the areas of business expansion, manufacturing, tourism, agriculture and community development.Finley is an author and an advocate for economic development. Her term continues through July 1, 2026.Kevin Askan, who works in the CSKT Tribal Preservation Office, and Elmo resident Duane Reid, the historic preservation officer for the Little Shell Tribe of Chippewa Indians, were both appointed to the Burial Preservation Board for terms that expire Sept. 1, 2027. The board protects skeletal remains found throughout the state from disturbance and seeks the repatriation of remains and funerary objects improperly taken from unprotected burial sites.
