Pure Markette has teamed up with the Duane E. Dewey AmVets Post 1988 to support Baldwin Community Schools students by sponsoring a school supply drive during the Markette from 3 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 14 in downtown Baldwin. “The spirit of Baldwin’s new farmers/makers market is to encourage the community to explore, discover and connect to Lake County’s and beyond bountiful resources and ultimately thrive,” Volunteer Market Manager Meridith Gremel said. “This week’s Back to School theme exemplifies this mission.” Residents, guests and business owners are encouraged to drop off school supplies at the vintage 1977 VW Microbus on site, with the goal of “stuffing the bus” with school supplies, Gremel said. Everyone who contributes supplies or financial support for the schools will be entered to win a variety of prizes from the Markette. Baldwin Community Schools superintendent David Forrester provided the following list of school supplies: Kindergarten/Elementary <ul><li> Crayola crayons&nbsp;— 24 count box </li><li> Glue sticks </li><li> Bottled white glue </li><li> Kleenex </li><li> Sandwich bags </li><li> 2 pocket folders </li><li> Wide ruled notebook paper </li><li> Ear headphones (not earbuds) </li></ul> Middle/High School <ul><li> 5 subject notebooks </li><li> Composition notebooks </li><li> Wide ruled notebook paper </li><li> Pen and pencils </li><li> 2 pocket folders </li><li> Locker organizers </li><li> Planners/calendars </li><li> Calculators </li></ul> The district is grateful for any and all donations of school supplies to help students, Forrester said.
