Seattle’s Most Famous Restaurant Painted Itself Hot Pink So It Could Be ‘Kenlis’
Harry Cheadle is the editor of Eater Seattle. Stately Canlis has put aside its typical sedate Pacific Northwest dark-whatever colors and is now a startling pink. The famed fine dining restaurant did the paint job late last week and let the anticipation (and confusion) build for a couple days, then announced over the weekend what the deal was: It was a Barbie-themed event that would happen at the restaurant on August 9 and 10.

America’s Best Breakfast Burrito is Right Here in Washington State
I haven’t had a breakfast burrito in a while. It’s been a minute - and I’m a proud co-host of KW3’s Breakfast Burrito with Connor & Aly. We are blessed to have great options for breakfast burritos here in the Wenatchee Valley. So many places do it right - RIGHT here at home.
Gloria Nagler: Different but alike
Despite the difference in the portion of white displayed, both the Douglas' Squirrel and Dark-eyed Junco in these images, taken in our yard, are leucistic. Not albino, because, e.g., their eyes are not affected. The internet tells me its a partial or total loss of pigmentation. I've seen a number...

Baby gorilla needs a new mom, zoo says
Efforts to coax a gorilla to bond with her newborn have switched to looking for a suitable surrogate among three other adult female gorillas, according to Woodland Park Zoo. What's happening: 22-year-old Akenji gave birth to the as-yet-unnamed boy on June 28, but she "repeatedly turned away from him" and indicated "she is not interested," said interim animal care manager Rachel Vass in an emailed statement.
RIP to That Weird Taco Time on 45th in Wallingford
Harry Cheadle is the editor of Eater Seattle. It seems pointless to eulogize individual locations of fast food chains. The whole point of fast food is that a brand’s restaurants are identical to one another, that the closure of one is at most a minor inconvenience to a franchise’s fans — chances are you can get the same burger or taco down the road.
Your grocery store could change hands soon
Fifteen QFC and Safeway stores in Seattle could soon be under new management thanks to a proposed merger between Safeway parent company Albertsons and Kroger, which owns QFC. The announcement sparked plenty of questions about what would happen to the stores, if any would close, and what changes customers could see. Seattle Times business reporter Paul Roberts is here to get into the details with us. We can only make Seattle Now because listeners support us. You have the power! How an Italian immigrant turned an elephant into a Seattle icon
At first glance, elephants and Seattle seem an unlikely pairing. Why would the world’s largest land mammal, found in Asia and Africa, have so intrigued residents of the Pacific Northwest?. Yet two Seattle companies have used this massive animal for decades to advertise their businesses. The more recognizable was...
