Emagine Theaters to host sensory-friendly screenings

LAKE GENEVA, Wis. -- Emagine Entertainment announced Wednesday it will be hosting a variety of screening accommodations for its guests in July, including sensory-friendly, dementia-friendly, and open-caption screenings.

Emagine said its sensory-friendly screenings will be played at a lower volume, shown in 2D, and played in a slightly lit theater. Children with sensory needs are welcome to move, dance, or sing if needed. Guests are welcome to bring a safe snack for any food allergies, restrictions, or avoidances.

For its dementia-friendly screenings, Emagine said it exclusively selected classic movies and musicals, and will present them in a unique setting with softer sound and ambient lighting. Guests are able to interact during the presentation and are encouraged to talk, clap, sing, and dance.

Emagine said it will also partner with local organizations to provide a team of dementia-friendly "Purple Angels," who will act as guides for the guests during their time in the theater.

Emagine said guests who experience hearing impairments will be able to enjoy movies with audio subtitles displayed on the big screen. All open-caption movies will be shown in 2D. The showings will feature some of the newest film releases on Sunday and Wednesday afternoons.
