New York Fries, a concept that offers a variety of plain and loaded French fries, is opening its second Long Island location.

The chain’s newest restaurant is in the Smith Haven Mall in Lake Grove. The company opened its first Long Island location at the Roosevelt Field Mall in Garden City in January.

“Between our initial restaurant in Roosevelt Field and our most recent opening in Jersey City, we’ve received such a warm welcome since officially re-entering the U.S.,” Craig Burt, COO at New York Fries, said in a company statement. “Our fresh-cut fries are taking over the East Coast and we can’t wait for mallgoers in Smith Haven and guests in Lake Grove to come by and enjoy.”

New York Fries, operated under Recipe Restaurant Group, got its start as a small fry shop at Manhattan’s South Street Seaport in 1983 and later became a staple at food courts throughout Canada, where poutine, French fries topped with gravy and cheese, is a national favorite.

Besides poutine, the menu at New York Fries features fresh-cut French-fried potatoesserved plain or loaded with a variety of toppings including beef chili, pulled pork, queso and crumbled bacon. The brand also offers all-beef grilled hot dogs and several loaded dog options.

In 2015 the New York Fries chain was acquired byRecipe Unlimited Corporation, a Canadian food conglomerate. There are now more than 130 New York Fries locations throughout Canada and the Middle East. The Smith Haven Mall restaurant is the chain’s fourth to open in the U.S. so far this year.
