    Softball roundup: Lake Mills knocks off Portage, Wisconsin Dells

    WISCONSIN DELLS — Lake Mills improved its softball record to 19-3 by beating Portage 6-2 and Wisconsin Dells 13-3 in five innings at Saturday’s quadrangular hosted by the Chiefs.

    Lily Doerr doubled in a two-out run in the L-Cats’ first inning versus the Warriors. In the third, Haydenn Sellnow’s two-run double and Payton Quest’s RBI single gave Lake Mills a 4-1 lead.

    Quest, who was 3-for-4, hit a two-run home run to right field with one out in the fifth inning.

    Lake Mills’ Aubrey Lepak allowed two runs (one earned) on six hits with seven strikeouts in a complete-game decision.

    The L-Cats plated nine runs on three hits in the first inning versus Wisconsin Dells. Doerr singled home a run and Mads Sherry’s two-run single stretched the lead to 3-0. The L-Cats then took advantage of a hit batsmen and two bases-loaded walks, plus a three-run error in the outfield.

    Zoey Buchholtz allowed three runs (one earned) on four hits with six strikeouts in five frames to earn the decision for the L-Cats.

    FRIDAY’S RESULTPoynette scored four unearned runs en route to beating Lake Mills 4-2 in Capitol North softball at Rotary Park on Friday.

    The L-Cats tied it with a two-run rally in the third inning as Emily Wollin scored on a passed ball and Savannah Radtke, who was 2-for-3, came across on an error in the infield.

    The Pumas (13-5, 5-3 in conference) took the lead for good on Ayla Johnson’s one-out single in the fourth, then added a two-out run via error in the sixth.

    Kassidy McCaffery pitched a four-hitter with three strikeouts to earn the decision for the Pumas.

    Aubrey Lepak allowed four unearned runs on nine hits, striking out four, in a complete-game loss for the L-Cats (17-3, 6-2 in conference).
