LAKE MILLS — The Lake Mills Optimists Club is hosting their annual golf outing fundraiser next weekend.

Aaron Kuhl, the organizer for the golf outing, said this is the club's main way to fundraise for all of the local programs that the Optimists run throughout the year.

This year, Kuhl said his goal was to get more community sponsors to help bring funds to community programs. The Optimist Club is trying to pick up some programs that the school recreation department has dropped, including the evening egg hunt for older kids and a family winter event.

Other events the Optimists Club puts on include ice skating for kids at Knickerbocker Festival, pumpkins for the fall festival, a junior fishery during free fishing weekend, a big wheel race during Town and Country Days and easter eggs in the park.

Kuhl said this is “not your typical golf outing.” The outing will begin at 8 a.m. on Saturday, August 17 at the Lake Mills Golf Club. Golfers will have the opportunity to win prizes at each hole included in registration. There will also be additional prize opportunities through the paddle prizes and 50/50 raffle.

Attendees can enjoy lunch after golfing, with more food offerings than in past years.

The last day to sign up as a golf team is Friday, Aug. 9.
