A Watertown man is still missing after he didn't return from a kayak trip to Big Green Lake Monday evening. The Dodge County Sheriff's Office contacted the Green Lake County Sheriff dispatch to indicate that the man did not return home.

His vehicle was found in a parking area where he had planned to launch his kayak. The watercraft was found with a lifejacket attached to it Monday, but the individual has still not been found.

"An extensive on the water search was suspended [Tuesday] afternoon around 4 p.m.," said the Green Lake County Sheriff's Office. "The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, Bruce's Legacy, and Green Lake County Sheriff's Office boats searched with sidescan sonar and underwater drones in the suspected area.

"The Green Lake County Drone unit searched from the air and will continue to search from the air until the individual is located. Plans are in place to continue searching the deepest water of Big Green Lake when the appropriate resources for those missions are available."

Lakeside Lutheran High School in Lake Mills shared that the missing man is Ryan Borgwardt of Watertown, who has two children attending LLHS and another at Trinity St. Luke's School.
