Defensive specialist Emma Kitsembel reached 1,000 career digs on her Senior Night as Lake Mills' volleyball team swept Poynette 25-20, 25-19, 25-19 in Capitol North play Thursday, Oct. 3.

Kitsembel had 25 digs on the night for the L-Cats (16-12, 3-4 in conference).

Sophomore middle hitter Brooke Palmer led Lake Mills with eight kills while three players -- senior middle hitter Haydenn Sellnow, freshman outside hitter Lyndsey Bender and junior outside hitter Sophie Hooper -- tallied seven kills apiece.

Junior setter Debra Bruce totaled a team-leading 25 assists, adding 11 digs and three aces. Senior defensive specialist Aubrey Lepak served two aces and Palmer made 1.5 blocks.

"The team did a good job of controlling our side and minimizing our errors," Lake Mills volleyball coach Courtney Brock said. "Our hitters worked hard to find the court tonight and really took advantage of some runs. Our defense ran everything down and did a great job of putting up balls so our setter could move it around.

"The highlight of the night was celebrating our seniors Haydenn, Aubrey and Emma. They’ve been a strong foundation of our team this year and have been someone their teammates can trust and rely upon."

    TUESDAY'S RESULTS

The Lake Mills volleyball team lost to visiting Lodi 25-17, 27-25, 25-21 in Capitol North play on Tuesday, Oct. 1.

Lyndsey Bender led the L-Cats with 10 kills and three aces. Brooke Palmer and Haydenn Sellnow added five kills apiece. Palmer also made 1.5 blocks.

Debra Bruce put up 17 assists and had two aces, Emma Kitsembel tallied 26 digs, Aubrey Lepak had seven digs and Sophie Hooper chipped in one block for Lake Mills (15-12, 2-4 in conference).

"It was a tough night for us," Lake Mills volleyball coach Courtney Brock said. "We started off each set strong and really focused on our connections. Unfortunately, we just struggled to finish."
