LAKE MILLS — Students have been decorating the halls and dressing up for homecoming all week at Lakeside Lutheran.

This year’s theme is Disney and Pixar movies, with each grade assigned a movie that dictates how they plan their banner decoration, class video, window display and dance. Freshmen have ‘Toy Story,’ sophomores are doing ‘Monsters Inc,’ ‘Cars’ is for the juniors and ‘Incredibles’ for the seniors.

On Wednesday, instead of regular school, students have a work day, where each class splits into groups to decorate or plan homecoming decorations or activities. Each class will design a banner instead of a float for the parade and make a video with their theme in mind, as well as put up decorations throughout the school.

The classes get points for decorations and activities, as well as for the talent show Wednesday night and mini olympics. Students also receive points for their class when they participate in the dress up days, which include pajama day, stages of life, color day, country vs. country club and warrior out. Plus, points can also be earned by going to varsity events, like the girls volleyball match or the boys soccer game during the week.

The class with the most points gets bragging rights for the year, and the spirit stick, which will be awarded at the pep rally on Friday.

Other activities planned for the week include musical chairs on Monday, dodgeball on Tuesday, the senior silent auction on Wednesday, jeopardy on Thursday, and boys volleyball and girls powderpuff on Friday.

The homecoming parade is scheduled for 5 p.m. on Friday in downtown Lake Mills, with the homecoming game at 7 p.m. against Portage. The semi-formal dance will be at 7:30 p.m.
