Fourteen area baseball players were honored in Capitol North all-conference voting held recently.
Lakeside Lutheran senior right-handed pitcher Aidan Berg garnered the league’s Player of the Year award, earning first-team honors in three consecutive seasons.
Berg pitched 64 innings across 13 games and went 9-0, also recording a save. He posted an era of 0.54 and WHIP of 0.57, striking out 70 against 11 walks. Berg also hit .278 with an on-base percentage of .416, driving in 16 runs and scoring 20 times while homering five times.
Lakeside senior outfielder Tyler Chopp, junior infielder Nolan Meis and junior designated hitter Thomas Dwyer and Lake Mills senior infielder Brody Henderson and junior infielder Ty Schaefer were also first-team recipients.
Chopp, also a first-team selection in 2023, hit .354 with an OBP of .490, scoring a team-high 22 runs while driving in 16 runs and swiping a team-best 11 bases.
Meis, who earned second-team accolades in 2022 and 2023, hit .296 with an OBP of .410, driving in a team-high 25 runs while scoring 13 times. Meis pitched 41 2/3 innings across nine games, went 5-3 and posted an ERA of 2.18.
Dwyer hit .377 with an OBP of .459, homered twice, drove in 14 runs and scored 11 times.
Henderson, a second-team pick last season and honorable mention recipient in 2022, hit .358 with an OBP of .485 and a team-high OPS of 1.226. Henderson totaled 18 extra-base hits, including five home runs, drove in 24 runs, scored 29 times and stole 15 bases to lead the L-Cats in each respective category. He tossed 28 1/3 innings, posting an ERA of 2.22.
Schaefer, who garnered honorable mention honors last year, had a team-leading batting average of .364 and team-best OBP of .490. He scored 23 runs and drove in 10.
Lakeside senior infielder Logan Schwab and Lake Mills senior outfielder Cooper Murphy, sophomore pitcher Ace Everson and sophomore designated hitter Mason Flood were second-team selections.
Schwab hit .282 with an OBP of .411, scored 14 times and drove home 10 runs.
Murphy hit .329 with an OBP of .417, scoring 20 times while driving in 14 runs.
Everson pitched 46 innings across 11 games, recording an ERA of 1.978 and WHIP of 1.196 with 43 strikeouts.
Flood hit .269 with an OBP of .344, drove in nine runs and scored 12 times.
Honorable mention selections were Lakeside sophomore outfielder Cooper Brakmanis, Lake Mills senior outfielder Wyatt Werner, sophomore infielder Jack Vogel and junior catcher Max Stelter.
Lakeside and Columbus shared the Capitol North title with 6-2 records, followed by Lodi at 4-4, Lake Mills at 3-5 and Poynette at 1-7.
