The Lake Mills/Aztalan Historical Society, Inc. will host its 57th annual Aztalan Day Sunday, July 21, 2024, at the museum site, from noon-4 p.m.

Located at the corner of CTH B and CTH Q, two miles east of downtown Lake Mills (N6284 CTH Q, Jefferson), the event will be educational and fun for all ages.

Attendees can experience historic craft/trade demonstrations including a blacksmith and flint knappers, vendors, as well as educational displays of historical tools, pioneer and Indigenous artifacts, volunteers will be sharing their antique tractors and engines, and much more.

This year’s featured program will begin at 1pm at the tent: “Diving into the Rock Lake Pyramids”, presented by Jordan Ciesieczyk, Maritime Archeologist with the Wisconsin Historical Society. Bring a lawn chair and put on your critical thinking hats as Jordan demystifies the longstanding and ever-present myth of the Rock Lake Pyramids; an underwater phenomenon of scientific findings blended with occult theory and unsubstantiated evidence while becoming local lore when “discovered” in the early 1900’s.

Doyle’s Dogs will be serving up their Chicago Style dogs and the Historical Society Board will be selling mini homemade pies!

Admission for adults is $5, seniors are $3, students, ages 6 to 18 are $3, and kids 5 years old and younger are free. Annual and lifetime members will get free admission when the member card is presented.

On July 30, 1967 the first of many Aztalan Days began at the Historical Society’s site adjacent to Aztalan State Park.

The Lake Mills Aztalan Historical Society, Inc. was founded in 1941 and has organized many programs and events over the decades but none have stood the test of time as Aztalan Day.

The Society is a non-profit volunteer based organization and does not receive funds from local, county, state or federal entities. Support during these events is needed to continue the care of the historic site, museum and collections.
