Federal Grant Awarded for Carver Center Nutrition Program in Culpeper
CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – The Rappahannock-Rapidan Regional Commission (RRRC) received $92,084 in federal funding to implement a nutrition program at the Carver Center in Culpeper County. The program is designed to increase local foods in school meals and improve nutrition security for local children. The program will use the Carver Food Enterprise Center’s commercial kitchen for the monthly delivery of food to students. The effort will connect local farmers with school cafeterias, providing fresh, nutritious food.

VHSL holding two-day meetings going into the school year with public invited to Day 1
CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Virginia High School League staff will conduct two-day area meetings throughout the state beginning July 22 and continuing until August 28 to review all aspects of the League’s athletic and non-athletic programs before the school year begins. The VHSL is extending an exclusive invitation to the public to attend the Day 1 meeting in their area, allowing attendees to ask questions, provide input, or share any concerns they might want to share with the VHSL staff. Executive Director Billy Haun, Assistant Director for Compliance Ty Gafford, and other VHSL Assistant Directors will lead the meetings. The public is invited to interact one-on-one with VHSL staff.
