Police are investigating a homicide after they found a dead body in a Lake Oswego home.

At 8:40 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 2, officers conducted a welfare check at a home located on the 17,000 block of Mardee Avenue, according to a press release issued by Lake Oswego Police. Inside the home, they found the body of a 78-year-old woman who appeared to be the victim of a homicide.

The victim’s 52-year-old son, Chad Brix, was arrested at the scene, according to the release.

The release states that there is no threat to the public, and the case is still under investigation.

As of Monday, Feb. 5, Lake Oswego police say Brix was being lodged at Clackamas County jail for second-degree murder. The police did not provide more information on the specifics of the incident or the name of the victim.
