With a crash of cymbals and the rumble of drums, rows of brightly-colored lion dancers streamed into the Lake Oswego Public Library on Saturday, Feb. 3.

The annual Lunar New Year Celebration at the Lake Oswego Public Library was sponsored by Friends of the Lake Oswego Public Library and organized in collaboration between Palisades World Language School and LO for LOve. The festival featured performances by White Lotus Dragon and Lion Dance, Oregon Korean Performing Arts and Heart Strings Mandarin.

The celebration featured children’s stories read aloud in Vietnamese, Korean and Chinese.

Lunar New Year is officially Saturday, Feb. 10 this year, welcoming the Year of the Dragon for 2024. Local Lunar New Year 2024 festivities continue next weekend from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 10 at Lakeridge High School.
