    Kris Modell

    2024-02-22

1950 - 2024 - Kristi Carol Modell was born at Wilcox Memorial Hospital (now Good Samaritan) to Betty and Alan Knox. She spent her childhood in Lake Oswego, riding and competing in horse shows at the Oswego Hunt Club, waterskiing, snow skiing and playing Lassie League softball. She took to swimming at an early age and represented Lake Oswego High School at the OSAA State Tournament. She also participated on the varsity cheerleading squad while at LOHS and was a member of the Charles F. Berg High School Board her senior year.

After a brief stint at the University of Oregon, Kris returned to Portland and settled into a career as a vet's assistant and devoted NASCAR and Seahawks football fan. She married Don Keller, settled down in Carver, Oregon and their son Jason was born in 1977. After their divorce, Kris met Les Modell at a Lake Oswego Community Theater cast party. Kris and Les married in 1980 and welcomed Les's daughter Corrie into the family the following year. Their son Alex arrived in 1986.

Kris helped organize several LOHS Class of '69 reunions and was an avid gardener. She never missed a birthday, sending hilarious cards to family members over the decades. She was Board Secretary for the Friends of Knox Butte Cemetery even though she hated taking minutes.

Kris transitioned out of this world on her own terms; never missing an opportunity to interject a funny spin into the conversation. She passed peacefully, surrounded by family -- no tubes, no monitors, no regrets.

Kris is survived by her children Corrie Aljian (Brian), Jason Keller and Alex Modell (Katrina); grandsons Sebastian, Oliver and Lucas Aljian; and siblings Craig Knox (Terri), Steve Knox (Lisa) and Kim Knox (Linda). Kris was preceded in death by her husband Les Modell; ex-husband Don Keller; and her parents Alan and Betty Knox. Donations in Kris's memory can be made to Lakewood Theater Company.
