The city of Lake Oswego recently completed a new shelter at George Rogers Park.

With money used from the 2019 Parks and Recreation bond, the city added a structure that covers 280 feet along with benches for picnicking as well as a path from a parking area to the shelter. The construction cost was $50,000.

“It is one of the most popular community shelter rentals and is frequently used by City summer camps and events. Replacing park structures that are outdated, in disrepair, or otherwise not functioning well was identified as a high priority for investment during the public outreach process leading up to the Parks Bond that Lake Oswego voters passed in 2019. Given the high level of rot in the structural beams and its popularity as a rental, the lower George Rogers Park picnic shelter was included in the projects funded by the 2019 Parks Bond,” a city press release said.
