Lake Oswego senior Josie Donelson is now a two-time Oregon high school state record holder, breaking a mark she previously set this season on Saturday, April 6.

At the Arcadia Invitational in California, Donelson ran 53.17 seconds to take first place in the 400-meter dash, a split-second faster than her previous state-best mark of 53.52 seconds, set during the senior’s first official high school race of 2024.

With the initial mark of 53.52, Donelson broke a 26-year-old record set by North Salem’s Sasha Spencer in 1997. Then, just over a week later, the University of Vanderbilt commit one-upped herself, running 53.17 to further her lead on the Oregon all-time list.

Donelson also competes in the 300-meter hurdles while being a key piece of the Lakers’ current 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams, both of which are state record holders.

For a star-studded Lake Oswego girls track team hoping to defend its state title this spring, Donelson will look to continue to be a key, history-making piece.
