Head to Bikini Bottom with Lakeridge Middle School theater

Join the Lakeridge Middle School theater department in a musical celebration of everyone’s favorite sponge who lives in a pineapple under the sea.

“SpongeBob SquarePants: The Musical, Youth Edition” opens at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 9 on the Lakeridge Middle School commons stage. The show continues at 7:30 p.m. on May 10, 11, 16, 17 and 18, with an additional 1 p.m. matinee on Saturday, May 11.

The play tells the story of SpongeBob, Patrick Star and the denizens of Bikini Bottom as they face off against an apocalyptic volcano and attempt to save their home.

The production features over 60 Lakeridge students working behind the scenes on the crew or on stage singing and dancing.

“Filled with catchy tunes spanning various genres, inventive choreography, and eye-popping visuals, the musical captures the heart and humor of the iconic animated series while delivering a message of friendship, courage, and resilience,” drama teacher Franklin Dunwoody said in an email.
