LaFrance and Martin named Lakeridge High School Players of the Year, Athletes of the Week for June 12

LaFrance is a junior on the Lakeridge varsity softball team, and Marin is a junior on the boys’ varsity lacrosse team.

This week, the Lakeridge varsity softball and boys’ varsity lacrosse coaches were asked to pick their players of the year. Two student athletes stood out most. Recognized for their contributions to the team over the past year, juniors Marin LaFrance and Tristan Martin have been recognized as Players of the Year for the 2023-2024 season, as well as this week’s Athletes of the Week for the week of June 12.

LaFrance, a junior on the varsity softball team, has brought consistency and skill to the field all season. Describing her as “steady, consistent, positive, hard worker, and super smart,” LaFrance’s coach said, “she is a joy to coach and a very skilled softball player.” This season, LaFrance batted .356, and a near perfect fielding percentage.

Martin, a long stick midfielder on the boys’ varsity lacrosse team, has also been a consistent factor in the teams’ success this year. “As our LSM, [Martin] covers the opponent’s top midfielder and he also keys our transition to offense,” his coach said. “[Martin] excels at both, shutting down the opposition on defense and scoring goals on offense.” This season, Martin was named 1st Team All-Conference and 2nd Team All State.
