Doan is a junior on the Laker varsity girls’ golf team, and Erdmann is a senior on the varsity girls’ softball team.

This week, the Lakers varsity girls’ lacrosse team and the varsity girls’ tennis team coaches were asked to pick their players of the year. Two student athletes stood out most. Recognized for their contributions to the team over the past year, junior Barret Doan and senior Olive Erdmann have been recognized as Players of the Year for the 2023-2024 season, as well as this week’s Athletes of the Week for the week of June 12.

Doan, a junior attacker on the varsity girls’ lacrosse team, has been an absolutely vital part of the teams’ success this year. “[Doan] is our leading scorer,” her coach said. “She especially stepped up during our playoff run - scoring 7 goals against Ida B Wells in the semifinals and 4 goals and 1 assist in the State Championship.” Doan ended the season with 68 goals and 12 assists.

Erdmann, a senior on the varsity girls’ tennis team, has been an example of what it means to be a team player for the Lakers. “[Erdmann] has the ability to play both singles and doubles and is the first one to offer to play the position that is in the best interest of the team,” her coach said. For her hard work and dedication, Erdmann has been recognized by her coach and teammates has not only “Most Improved” player of the season, “but also one of the nicest people you will meet both on and off the court,” her coach added.

Congratulations on an outstanding season, Barrett and Olive!
