Lake Oswego has a new destination spot to grab a drink or nibble on light snacks.

Driftwood Taphouse, located at 3 Monroe Parkway near New Seasons Market, recently opened.

The taphouse has a rotating selection of beer on tap from breweries like Rogue Brewing, Occidental Brewing, Pfriem and Ecliptic Brewing, as well as cocktails and small plates. The space includes indoor and outdoor seating.

Leo Shaverdian worked in the restaurant industry in his home country of Armenia and wanted to start his own restaurant after moving to Oregon and working in construction. The Beaverton resident said his goal was delayed during the pandemic, but he found the Lake Oswego location after eating at Little Big Burger nearby. He felt this part of Lake Oswego was underserved in terms of taphouses and so jumped at the opportunity to open one.

Along with food and drinks, Driftwood Taphouse will have rotating art, live music and game nights on Tuesday evenings. Shaverdian also plans to change the menu soon to reflect the summer weather. Driftwood tries to play relaxing music so people can easily talk to each other.

“We are a little bit of everything. We are trying to have a relaxing place people can go after work or in general to talk with a group of friends … we have a good selection of cocktails, beers, plus food and outdoor seating,” he said.
