Vilarino is a senior on the Lake Oswego High School varsity baseball team, and Komitor is a senior centerfielder on the varsity softball team.

Batting for the Lakers in both baseball and softball, senior athletes Nick Vilarino and Lia Komitor have been named Lake Oswego High School’s Athletes of the Week for the week of June 26th.

Vilarino, a senior on the varsity baseball team, “was a senior leader in every way,” according to his coach. “He led the Lakers in hitting this season with a .406 average. He was first team All-State and All Three Rivers League as an outfielder and will play in the Richardson Oregon All-Star Series June 22-23. [Vilarino] is the ultimate example of hard work, perseverance, and being a tremendous team person.”

Komitor, a senior centerfielder on the varsity softball team, led the Lakers with a batting average of .453 and 25 stolen bases. She was also top 3 on defense with 56 putouts. According to her coach, “[Komitor] was one of a few returning seniors and she took a very active role in leading the team through a transition year with most of the team being first year varsity players. She did a wonderful job making them feel included and encouraging them through a very large transition.”

    Congratulations, Nick and Lia!
