    Lake Oswego plays win big at awards ceremony

    The Lakewood Theatre Company dolled out honors for its recently-completed 71st season at the 51st annual Oregon Theatrical Awards Society awards on Friday, June 30 at the Lakewood Center for the Arts.

    “A Few Good Men” and “Irving Berlin’s Holiday Inn” fared especially well, taking home seven awards apiece. The awards were selected based on the work of a panel of judges who attend all Lakewood plays.

    “Performers are judged on role conception, vocal/physical interplay and performance impact on the audience. Directors are judged on conception and interpretation of the play, use of performers as groups and overall impact. All Lakewood Theatre Company members receive ballots,” a press release from Lakewood stated.

    Award recipients included:

    Best lead actor in a musical - William Shindler as Jim Hardy in “Irving Berlin’s Holiday Inn”

    Best Leading Actress in a Musical - Madison Curtis as Doralee Rhodes in “9 to 5: the Musical”

    Best Featured Actor in a Musical - Sean Ryan Lamb as Franklin Hart Jr. in “9 to 5: the Musical”

    Best Featured Actress in a Musical - Joan Freed as Louise in “Irving Berlin’s Holiday Inn”

    Best Leading Actor in a Play - Tom Walton as Navy LT. J.G. Daniel Kaffee in “A Few Good Men”

    Best Leading Actress in a Play - Kelsey Glasser as Navy LT. Commander Joanne Galloway in “A Few Good Men”

    Best Featured Actor in a Play (tie) - Bryan Tryborn as Marine LT. Jonathan James Kendrick in “A Few Good Men” and Jeremy Southard as Agatha Hammond in “A Tomb With A View”

    Best Featured Actress in a Play - Lisa Knox as Dora Tomb in “A Tomb With A View”

    Best Choreographer - Laura Hiszczynskyj for “Irving Berlin’s Holiday Inn”

    Best Musical Direction - Cyndy Ramsey-Rier for “Irving Berlin’s Holiday Inn

    Best Sound Design - Play - Marcus Storey for “A Few Good Men”

    Best Sound Design - Musical - Marcus Storey for “Irving Berlin’s Holiday Inn”

    Best Light Design - Dug Martell for “A Few Good Men”

    Best Set Design - John Gerth for “A Few Good Men”

    Best Costume Design - Janelle Sutton for “Irving Berlin’s Holiday Inn”

    Best Director – Musical - Dennis Corwin for “Irving Berlin’s Holiday Inn”

    Best Director – Play - Karlyn Love for “A Few Good Men”
