After only a week, the 2024 Lake Oswego Architectural Boat Tour is sold out for another year.

“A seat on the Lake Oswego Preservation Society’s annual boat tour has proven to be the hottest ticket in town,” Lake Oswego Preservation Society President Denise Bartelt said in a press release. “The appeal of this popular event is not just the chance to spend a couple of hours on a beautiful afternoon (so far, so good) in early September touring the shoreline of the main lake and Lakewood Bay but to local history buffs, architecture and preservation fans, it’s ideal.”

Each year, the preservation society organizes 13 boats, driven by volunteer boat and pontoon owners, for a two-hour trip around Oswego Lake and Lakewood Bay to observe, learn and discuss the area's different historic architectural homes.

This year’s boat tour is from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 8 and attendees will depart from Sundeleaf Plaza.

Spots on the waitlist are still available by filling out the form at https://lakeoswegopreservationsociety.org/museum-schedule/oswego-lake-architectural-boat-tour-24/.

To get a seat for next year’s tour, LOPS recommends getting ahead of the curve by joining the organization as a member. LOPS members have one week of early access to book boat tour tickets.

In 2021, the organization took ownership of the Carman House, the only Lake Oswego residence that predates Oregon statehood in 1859. In order to continue the preservation work at the Carman House, the annual boat tours help the organization fundraise and plan for the future.

The preservation society is always looking for volunteers, especially as they continue to raise funds to preserve historic residences and buildings in Lake Oswego like the Carman House.

The boat tours show many of Lake Oswego’s most famous lakeside residences up close, including the Duncan House, the Angler’s Club and the Jantzen Estate.
