    Student Writers Advisory Group

    High school students interested in learning more about news writing should apply for the Student Writers Advisory Group.

    To apply, email education reporter Mac Larsen your resume — please include your name, school, grade level, extracurriculars and experience — and a cover letter that explains why you want to join SWAG. Applicants should also answer the following prompt: Should the voting age be lowered to 16 years old?

    Lake Oswego School District

    Feasibility study open houses

    The Lake Oswego School District is hosting two open houses to discuss and share out the information gathered from the summer feasibility study looking into the future of the long range facilities plan.

    7-9 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 12, at Lake Oswego High School10 a.m.-12 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14 at Lakeridge High School

    First day of school

    The first day of school is different among Lake Oswego students. Tuesday, Sept. 3 was the first day of school for first through sixth graders, as well as high school freshmen. Wednesday, Sept. 4 is the first day of school for seventh and eighth graders and the rest of high school students. Friday, Sept. 6 is the first day of school for LOSD kindergartners.

Smart Start is an opportunity for students with 504s and IEPs and their families to make introductions and get situated before the beginning of the school year to ensure the best educational outcomes for all students.

    West Linn-Wilsonville School District

    Wilsonville High School drama department rummage sale

    This event is from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 8 at the Performing Arts Center.

    Free lunch and breakfast at school

    The West Linn-Wilsonville School District announced that students at 10 of the district’s 16 schools will receive free meals during the 2024-25 school year.

    The CEP schools for the 2024-25 school year are Boeckman Creek Primary School, Boones Ferry Primary, Cedaroak Park Primary, Lowrie Primary, Sunset Primary, Willamette Primary, Wood Middle School, Meridian Creek Middle, Riverside High School and Wilsonville High.
