Lakewood play
The Lakewood Theatre Company will explore existential questions surrounding artificial intelligence during its upcoming production of “R.U.R.” from Sept. 13 to Oct. 20 at the Lakewood Center for the Arts. The play, written in 1920, is set in the future and centers on a robot-making company that attempts to free humans from labor through artificial intelligence, leading to a robot rebellion. Church anniversary celebration
The West Linn Lutheran Church will celebrate its “60+1” anniversary with a theme of “Coming Home” at 2 p.m. Oct. 6. A reception and fellowship will follow. The church is located at 20390 Willamette Drive in West Linn.
Lake Grove Farmers Market
The next Lake Grove Farmers Market will feature wine from local wineries as well as fresh produce and vendors. It will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6 on Hallmark Drive.
Concert

The West Linn Arts & Culture Commission will present its Fall Art Show during a reception at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5 at the West Linn Library Community Room. The art will be on display at the library throughout October.

Willamette Women Democrats
The Willamette Women Democrats’ meeting at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6 at the Home Builders Association Conference Center in Lake Oswego will feature election candidates including Tobias Read for secretary of state, Elizabeth Steiner for state treasurer and Dan Rayfield for attorney general. They will share their vision for Oregon for the next four years.
Lake Oswego market
The Lake Oswego Farmers’ Market will conclude with its final week from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5 at Millennium Plaza Park. The event will include vendors selling fresh produce, hot food, artisanal goods and more. There also will be music.
Learn Nordic dances
Learn the beautiful and poetic folk dances of Scandinavia as the Portland area dance group Norske Runddansere starts its 2024-25 season. For a $10 drop-in fee or a $125 Annual Membership, new and experienced dancers can learn a variety of simple and advance dances at Nordic Northwest, 8800 SW Oleson Road, Portland. Doors open 7 p.m. each Monday, with teaching at 7:15 p.m. and open dancing 8:15-9:15 p.m. Classes start mid-September with basic dances. Advanced dances are taught as the season progresses. Simple “round dances” or “mixers” enhance socializing in an environment greeting newcomers with exercise, community and live authentic folk music.
