The city of Lake Oswego is completing pedestrian improvements at A Avenue and 5th Street from late October until December.

According to the local government’s website, the current crossing at the intersection has visibility issues and does not meet ADA standards. In turn, the city is planning to replace the existing flash beacon with a rapid flashing beacon, improve crosswalk striping, trim vegetation to improve sightlines and build three new curb ramps.

“The project aims to address and improve the overall safety and functionality of this important pedestrian crossing point in the downtown area of Lake Oswego,” the city website reads.

The city also noted that travelers should expect some lane reductions and a pedestrian detour during the project timeline.
