Lake Oswego High School BSU and Respond to Racism to host ‘The Hate U Give’ movie screening
The Lake Oswego High School Black Student Union, in partnership with Respond to Racism, is hosting a screening of “The Hate U Give” at 12 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 24 at Lake Oswego United Church of Christ. After the movie screening, BSU and Respond to Racism will lead a discussion about the themes of the film and fundraise for future BSU events. “We hope everyone can come, it’s open to the public. We’re really excited because it’s a good movie and showcases very important things,” said Braelyn Jenkins, Lakeridge High School BSU president, during the Feb. 5 school board meeting. The novel the film is based on, “The Hate U Give” by Angie Thomas, was published in 2017 and inspired by the Black Lives Matter movement. The film was released the subsequent year.

Longtime KOIN news anchor Mike Donahue, who died of cancer last year, is set to be honored by the Oregon Legislature during its current short session. Three former television news colleagues, including current state Sen. Lew Frederick, spoke on behalf of Senate Concurrent Resolution 210 during a Senate Rules Committee meeting on Thursday, Feb. 15. May 5, 1944 – December 17, 2023 - Bob Fuchs, a beloved and respected presence in Lake Oswego community from 1974 - 1985, passed away unexpectedly in San Diego, CA. Bob served as a U.S. Air Force pilot, excelled in commercial real estate, and made significant contributions as a community activist and dedicated Rotarian. He and his wife, Jan, played pivotal roles in creating a land use plan for Lake Oswego. He was a devoted husband, father, "dog father," and grandfather. In all his roles, he embodied unwavering dedication, integrity, and service. Oregon Senate bill would limit price of insulin
The Oregon Senate Tuesday passed a bill that would cap the cost of insulin at $35 per month. Senate Bill 1508 also would limit the cost to $105 for a 90-day supply.
