This emotionally thrilling series reveals the shocking story of how fashion icon Christian Dior (Ben Mendelsohn) and his contemporaries, including Coco Chanel (Juliette Binoche), Pierre Balmain (Thomas Poitevin) and Cristóbal Balenciaga (Nuno Lopes), navigated the horrors of World War II and launched the legacy of modern fashion.
Movie Review: “The Thomas Crown Affair” showing Feb.7 and 10 on Cinemax
Many movie remakes prompt the question of why they were even attempted. In the case of “The Thomas Crown Affair,” though, the result is surprisingly good. Originally filmed in a 1968 version with Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway as romantically entangled adversaries in a heist investigation, the story was updated in 1999 with Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo as the amorous opponents. Produced by Brosnan’s company and directed by John McTiernan (“Die Hard”), the revision – which Cinemax shows Wednesday, Feb. 7, and Saturday, Feb....

Lake Oswego resident Jerry Ghiglieri was in a rough spot during the wind and ice storm. While driving home from an emergency trip to the hospital after feeling weak due to low red blood cell counts in the middle of the night Jan. 17, Ghiglieri’s car skidded against the ice along E Avenue before stabilizing against a curb. OPINION: Lake Oswego Hunt — It’s not what you think it is
Have you ever noticed the sprawling white building with the green roof on Iron Mountain Road? It’s Lake Oswego Hunt (LOH), a place I had never visited or knew much about until a year and a half ago. My impression was that it was a place only for people who owned horses, but I learned that EVERYONE is welcome there. So I signed up for adult beginner riding lessons. While learning to ride, I also learned about the history of LOH. The barn and arena...
GMC Sierra AT4X is a true go-anywhere pickup
The world of full-size pickup trucks is all about big and tough these days. The bigger and tougher they are, the better we like them. GMC's entry in the big and tough category is the Sierra 1500 AT4 and AT4X. These are trucks designed and optimized for off-road use. They're still good for other truck tasks, but you're paying for all the off-road goodies. When you get to the AT4 and AT4X, you're at the top of the heap. GMC's best (and most expensive) engines...

Court petition complicates Lake Oswego West Waluga Park sewer extension appeal process
While residents in the Lake Forest neighborhood and beyond have vociferously opposed a proposal that would connect a sewer line in West Waluga Park and adjust nearby lots, they may not get the chance to make their case in front of Lake Oswego City Council. New Look Development filed a petition Jan. 24 seeking to have Clackamas County Circuit Court preemptively approve the application because Lake Oswego had purportedly failed to issue a final decision in time for a mandated review deadline of 120 days...

Lexus reveals stunning all-new 2024 GX 550 SUV
The GX body-on-frame SUV occupies a special place in the Lexus vehicle lineup. As Toyota's premium brand, most people associate Lexus with smooth pavement luxury and vehicles like the popular RX crossover or the RC and LC sports cars. But there's a notable exception to that rule, and it's the GX. This SUV is based on the same mechanical underpinnings as the legendary Toyota Land Cruiser, and it's made to be as poised and capable on the trail as it is at the country club. ...

Your Oregon News asked readers if the return of student loan payments after the pandemic pause affects their household. Have you been exposed to radon?
Exposure to radon gas is the leading cause of lung cancer among people who never smoked cigarettes or other tobacco products. The Environmental Protection Agency says radon accounts for about 21,000 deaths from lung cancer each year. The EPA notes that radon is a naturally occurring gas that is present in outdoor environments in small amounts. It results from the breakdown of uranium in soil and rocks. Radon can prove dangerous when it is concentrated. Radon may enter homes and other buildings built on soil...
