City of Lake Oswego increasing police presence at two local parks
The city of Lake Oswego announced increased police and park ranger presence at George Rogers Park and Foothills Park, according to a post on X. Specifically, the city is keying in on water-access locations; areas of emphasis include enforcing park rules and alcohol restrictions and preventing underage drinking. The city’s post said it was increasing police presence “to ensure a safe & enjoyable experience for everyone.” It later added: “Enjoy the weather this weekend. The Lake Oswego Public Library will feature the Soul Box Project, which raises awareness for the gun violence epidemic, throughout June. The exhibit is named “This Loss We Carry” and has been distributed across 27 states. According to the Soul Box Project website, there have been over 28,000 deaths as a result of gun violence in the United States in 2024.
