On July 6, at approximately 6:34 p.m., a traffic stop resulted in the arrest of Alejandro Estrella, 33, of Cedar Lake, Indiana. Estrella was issued citations for speeding over the statutory limit (35-mph over the posted limit) and driving without valid insurance. He was released with a notice-to-appear via his citations.

Motorcyclist killed in fiery crash on Edens Expressway
CHICAGO (CBS) — A motorcyclist was killed in a fiery crash on the inbound Eden Expressway Saturday night, Illinois State Police said.It happened around 8:15 p.m. on I-94 near Lake Avenue.State police said the rider of a Suzuki motorcycle crossed onto a ramp as a person in a white Toyota Prius was driving down the ramp. The motorcycle hit the back of the car and caught fire.The motorcycle rider was taken to the hospital, where they died. It's unclear if the driver of the car was injured. Around 10:11 p.m., all southbound lanes were shut down for investigation, and traffic was diverted off Skokie Avenue. All lanes were reopened at 12:25 a.m. Sunday.No further information was immediately available.

Boy, 7, hospitalized after being shot in head on Dan Ryan Expressway
CHICAGO (CBS) — A 7-year-old boy was hospitalized after he was shot on the Dan Ryan Expressway Sunday morning.Illinois State Police say a vehicle was traveling down I-94 near 73rd Street around 2:40 a.m. when someone in another car started shooting at them – striking the boy who was a passenger.The driver of the struck car exited the expressway and stopped near 22nd and Michigan to call for help. The boy was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the head.State police closed the expressway's northbound lanes just before 4 a.m. to investigate. Federal Sentence for Gun Sale in Michigan City
(South Bend, IN) - A Chicago man has been sentenced on a federal gun charge with ties to Michigan City. In January of last year, 42-year-old Allory Smith of Chicago sold a rifle, a handgun, and ammunition to a buyer in the Michigan City area. According to authorities, Smith referred to the rifle as a “real license to kill” because he believed it had previously been reported stolen. With several prior felony convictions, Smith is prohibited from possessing firearms.
