Home burns to the ground in Rough and Ready
A single wide modular home burned to the ground off of the 11,000 block of Bonanza Way in Rough and Ready Monday morning. The home was a complete loss and the fire spread to the nearby vegetation but reportedly burned less than an acre and was stopped with the help of firefighters on the ground and in the air. Air attack 17, and air tankers from the Grass Valley Interagency Air Attack Base as well as Helicopter 514 out of White Cloud Helitack Base responded quickly to the reports of Monday’s fire. Air tankers were quickly released from the incident.

Vegetation fire off of Newtown Road kept to one acre
Vegetation fire off of Newtown Road kept to one acre. A vegetation fire reported just after noon Wednesday, was kept to approximately an acre of vegetation burned off of Avian Place and Newtown Road. The fire was initially reported as 1/4 of an acre and burning uphill at a moderate rate of spread, immediately threatening a structure. By 12:15, firefighters on scene reported the fire had grown to one acre. Air attack and air tankers 88 and 89 were quickly over the fire from the Grass Valley Interagency Air Attack base and were beneficial in slowing the conflagration almost entirely before crews on the ground made access. By 12:20 the majority of the fire’s forward progress had been stopped and not long after full containment of the Avian Fire was called.
