Woman arrested in crash that killed Vacaville police officer has criminal history, prosecutors say
VACAVILLE – A woman behind bars for a crash that killed a Vacaville police officer on Thursday had a bench warrant out for her arrest in Placer County, prosecutors said. Serena Rodriguez, 24, of Auburn was arrested Thursday after the California Highway Patrol said she tried to run away from a crash that killed Vacaville Police Officer Matthew Bowen.

Recreation Facilities Closed Following Thompson Fire. Several trails and recreation facilities remain closed within Lake Oroville’s State Recreation Area following the recent Thompson Fire. The Department of Water Resources (DWR) and the California Department of Parks and Recreation (State Parks) continue to assess fire impacts to recreation facilities and long-term closures of some facilities are anticipated for repairs and hazard tree removal.

Tuesday, July 2nd was a very, VERY HOT day in Wheatland, CA at the Toyota Amphitheatre. With the temperature soaring around 110 degrees, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Paula Abdul, and New Kids On The Block pressed onward with the Magic Summer Tour, ready to transport the packed house back to the days of their youth. Only this time, most of us brought our kids, as well! It was really fun to see so many moms sharing this event with their children. To be honest, the weather was miserable and there was a fire nearby, so smoke was filling the air. But, NKOTB fans didn’t let that stop them from having the time of their lives.

She was born in Sacramento, CA in 1927 and lived in Auburn for all her life, apart from a brief time when she and her husband Richard (Dick) lived in Shaker Heights, OH. She attended Auburn Schools through graduation from Placer High School in 1945. She attended Lux College in San Francisco, CA and Placer Junior College.

Nicole Buss A massive fire broke Friday afternoon near the Thunder Valley Casino And Western Placer Waste Management at Fiddyment Road and Athens Avenue in Lincoln. CAL FIRE confirmed the Athens Fire was at 260 acres in grass with a dangerous rate of spread at it's peak. The fire started at 1:49 p.m. on July 12, 2024. A self-proclaimed foodie, lover of travel and the arts, she passed away peacefully on 5/24/2024 at home at the age of 89, surrounded by her family. Jack Warren passed away peacefully early on the morning, Sunday June 23, 2024 in North Auburn, CA. Jack was born in Long Beach, CA and enjoyed the area through his young and teenage life. His family moved to Grass Valley, CA where his Father and Uncle owned and worked a refrigeration service business. Jack loved Northern Cal so he stayed. He attended Chico State and graduated with an Engineering Degree. While there he joined the gymnastic team gaining many skills such as climbing the stairs on his hands rather than his feet.

Rodriguez, 24, of Auburn was driving a vehicle that hit Officer Matthew Bowen about 10:30 a.m. as he was conducting a traffic stop at the intersection of Leisure Town Road and Orange Drive, according to the California Highway Patrol.
